Conifer is currently in the process of entering its Twilight Phase—read more about the reasoning in the original announcement from December 2025.

The process is divided into 3 steps:

status date action
complete December 2025 The creation of new accounts and subscriptions is closed.
complete May 2026 Paying users’ subscriptions are stopped, with a pro-rated refund.
to do June 2026 The Conifer platform is replaced with a “tombstone app” that will allow continued hosting of collections with Rhizome, move them to the Browsertrix service, self-host, or delete.

Webinar for Conifer users on May 21st 2026!

Conifer users are invited to a zoom webinar on May 21st 2026, at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 19:00 CEST. Please RSVP via Google Form to receive an invitation with the meeting Link.

The webinar will cover the features of the new tombstone app, explain how self-hosting web archives works, how to continue capturing web archives with the Webrecorder desktop app or browser extensions, and how to migrate to the Browsertrix web archiving platform.

You’re welcome to bring any questions to the session that will help smooth the transition into your next stage of creating and offering web archives.

The webinar will be recorded and made available publicly on Rhizome’s own video hosting platform.
